I grew up as an only child, thank god. But now, I'd say I have a sister.
Her name is Keryn Dizon and she is an extremely talented designer.
You may know her from her previous collection, Elijah which for those who know me, have seen me wear every season for the last 3 years. Nevertheless, Elijah is no more, yet the same well-crafted pieces can be found in her eponymous label, Keryn.
After a couple rounds of conversations (mind you, I'd be sitting on the side of the street in my car for an hour) talking about what she should call this new venture... It took many days, weeks even. Finally, it was clear, just Keryn. Then, there was a branding discussion, a look book conversation, who would we get to shoot and art direct it? Alas, we got the youngest talent we could find, Katia Hakko and Bon Duke, whom together understood where Keryn was coming from and helped create a simple fresh start. We couldnt have been more proud of the skill-level and patience Katia gave to the project (afterall, she was Jeff's star student and one of my best assistants and office-mate).
There is nothing greater than watching a group of talented people collaborate together. For me, its been inspiring to watch rounds of talent, re-interpret the same concept. I love when small labels can utilize different talent for each season, it helps us get outside the bubble we live in, and creates a sense of awareness. I have seen this with Elijah and now, Keryn. That said, I would say to go out and buy every piece, because the thought and consideration of this brand and the heart felt designs have been mulled over and over like a great glass of aged wine.
