(This is me feeling ANNOYED to have my photo taken)
Clearly I hate being in front of the camera, thats why I am all about behind-the-scenes. Which is perfect now that I am a contributing editor to Sundance Channel's Full Frontal Fashion website. Expect weekly posts (NOT DAILY) of the designer's I'm meeting with and the showrooms I'm visiting. This is essentially a peak into the daily activity of what a stylist/editor does when they are on photo shoots.
Lord knows when I try to explain to my mom she still doesn't get it!!!

Elijah is now, "Keryn"
I grew up as an only child, thank god. But now, I'd say I have a sister.
Her name is Keryn Dizon and she is an extremely talented designer.
You may know her from her previous collection, Elijah which for those who know me, have seen me wear every season for the last 3 years. Nevertheless, Elijah is no more, yet the same well-crafted pieces can be found in her eponymous label, Keryn.
After a couple rounds of conversations (mind you, I'd be sitting on the side of the street in my car for an hour) talking about what she should call this new venture... It took many days, weeks even. Finally, it was clear, just Keryn. Then, there was a branding discussion, a look book conversation, who would we get to shoot and art direct it? Alas, we got the youngest talent we could find, Katia Hakko and Bon Duke, whom together understood where Keryn was coming from and helped create a simple fresh start. We couldnt have been more proud of the skill-level and patience Katia gave to the project (afterall, she was Jeff's star student and one of my best assistants and office-mate).
There is nothing greater than watching a group of talented people collaborate together. For me, its been inspiring to watch rounds of talent, re-interpret the same concept. I love when small labels can utilize different talent for each season, it helps us get outside the bubble we live in, and creates a sense of awareness. I have seen this with Elijah and now, Keryn. That said, I would say to go out and buy every piece, because the thought and consideration of this brand and the heart felt designs have been mulled over and over like a great glass of aged wine.

4 DAYS IN THE COLD CRUEL WORLD
SATURDAY:
I started my week last Saturday @ the Brooklyn Flea.
Victorian nightgowns and eyelet cotton underpinnings.
NO ONE GAVE A RATS ASS!
I guess no one was thinking of going as a Whitesnake concert slut for Halloween...
80s Motorcycle jacket in black canvas - $40 bucks
80s black and white stripe rayon shirt - $18 bucks
80s 25" waist Levis with frayed holes in the butt - $25
Mexican dress. I guess we're in the wrong season to sell this but thats why we would have given you a discount.
$45 bucks for a Leopard print coat. A la Edie Sedgwick.
No one bought this either. Maybe because its too much of a furry blanket?
Cute boy tried on my Cherokee sweatshirt.
$20 bucks. He didnt buy it.
The FLEA WAS A BUST. It rained, I held in my pee and Martha Stewart didnt show up.
SUNDAY:
So photo shoot time. People think this is glamourous and all I have to say is Sunday morning @ 7:30am after lugging 100 pounds of clothes, shoes and accessories up 5 flights is NOT my idea of Sunday Brunch.
Behind the scenes with..... I dont think I can say her name without getting into trouble...so I'll mention it later.
Jewels for the shoot.
MONDAY:
This is Sidney, a boy after my heart. He usually has me laughing so hard that I have hard cruel lines in my face after leaving his office. This picture really says it all. Sidney handles press for United Bamboo, Lela Rose, Rachel Comey, Thuy and a bunch of others... Usually when he throws something my way, I don't question it. I'll keep it on the rack even if it's something that I am unsure about. Sidney, you're always right. I shot your Rachel Comey red suede mini dress. Next, I went to Thom Browne. Whose construction blows me away...Thom, you are a wonderful genius. Thank you for this bucket hat allows me to leave the house any day of the year without anyone having to see my face (with or without puffy eyes, acne, salt-bloating, facial extraction irritation).
The motorcycle jacket Courtney is posing with, I am dying to own. Pendleton Woolen Mills for Opening Ceremony.
After the shoot, the messenger left the garment bag (with this very jacket inside) on the MTA bus. WHO DOES THIS? It was lost for almost an entire day, but it was miraculously found and returned.
I thank God, Jesus, Mary Mother, Ghandi, Mother Teresa and to Molly Williams for keeping her cool.
